If you have an online store or run one, you will definitely need to have some basic knowledge on how to manage the import or export of products from the site. First of all, we need to clarify why it is important to have this knowledge:
- You can prevent situations in which the site no longer works normally. This may be due to incompatibility between some codes or even an attack by malicious strangers. A file backup will be able to fix this problem and will restore all the functionalities of the store.
- You want to move the site to another hosting service.
- Collaborate with affiliate sites that want to display your products on their store pages.
How to export products
To start exporting products, you will need to log in to the WordPress site, and select the “Products” option from the left menu. Once you’ve opened the display page for all your products, you’ll need to select the “Export” option at the top of the screen, as shown in the image below.

After you have done this, the following window will appear:

In this window you can choose if you want to export all products or only some of them, by selecting by category, type or internal sections (attributes, inventory, sku, etc.). The products will be saved on your computer in a .csv file.
How to import products
To import products you will also need to select the “Products” option from the side menu of the WordPress dashboard, and in the newly opened “Import” page as shown in the first image in the “How to export products” section of this article. Once you have done this, a similar window will open:

In this window you can upload the .csv file with the products you want to import on the site. After clicking next, you will be asked if you want to prioritize the products. If not, click on the “Import” button on the bottom right and you’re done. Your products are now listed in the online store.
